Lenzing™
Lenzing™: Lenzing™ Micromodal and Tencel are some of the softest, stretchiest fabrics that still boast a clean conscience, made from the pulp of certified sustainably-harvested beech trees and eucalyptus trees, respectively. The process of breaking down wood pulp into thread is a closed-loop system, recovering and reusing 99% of the solvents and water. Expect the breathability and stretchiness of cotton, but without all of the icky aftermath–i.e. pesticide and fertilizer runoff, or water and land waste.

Upcycled Cotton
Upcycled Cotton: the newest superstar fabric to join our lineup, our upcycled cotton blend is made from OCS certified organic cotton, and is blended with GRS certified recycled cotton from post-industrial textile cotton waste. Compared to virgin cotton, which needs about 13k liters of water to process per kg, upcycled cotton needs 0. That’s right, ZERO. It’s not farmed, processed, or dyed; 50% of the energy used to spin it is solar, and the resulting product is cotton, exactly as it started. Only better.

Deadstock
Deadstock: These are materials that would have otherwise been thrown into the waste stream, and instead, are re-purposed by IMBŌDHI to form your beloved onesie. Like our other fabrics, deadstock materials come from Los Angeles, and are highly durable. While the colors may be a surprise each time, the quality is not. Our goal in reclaiming these fabrics is to create minimalist essentials that can be worn for many years, in many ways.

Continuous Accountability
Part of being in integrity means staying open to what we do not know, acknowledging room for improvement. For example, while we love our deadstock fabric, they release a small amount of plastic microfibers back into the ecosystem; to offset this, we are developing tools that can catch microfibers in the washing machine.
Our current initiatives at IMBŌDHI are the first steps toward becoming a zero emission company. We currently donate to environmental powerhouses One Tree Planted, the Coral Reef Alliance, the Amazon Conservation Association, and the Nature Conservancy, and aim to partner with several nonprofits that share a common mission to reforest degraded land across the US. We will continue to hold ourselves accountable for the impact that we have on our planet, and strive to make it a good one.
